In recent years considerable media attention has been given to a number of major corporate collapses. The effects of these have been instrumental in forcing a wide-ranging review of reporting standards throughout the world.

In this country auditors are obliged to conform to The New Zealand Auditing Standards, a mix of mandatory requirements and guidance, which set out the basic principles and essential procedures for the conduct of an audit. They are to be complied with, regardless the size of the entity being audited.

The statutory authority to establish and police these Standards is vested in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of NZ.

As a result of the specialist nature and the stringent obligations required of auditors many Chartered Accountants no longer practice in this field. At RayneWright Accounting we do maintain those required standards and offer an audit service.

RayneWright has a growing audit division. Many of our clients are well known and include companies requiring a statutory audit, sports organisations, Maori trusts and charitable bodies.

As a consequence of continued development, Warren Johnson joined the firm in 2002 to augment this side of the practice. He and Tony Wright have had several years audit experience and both held senior roles whilst engaged with one of the ‘big four’ chartered accountancy firms overseas.

Due to Warrens recent resignation, we have been fortunate to have obtained the services of Sarah Dillon, a Chartered Accountant whose total career background has been in audit both in New Zealand and in United Kingdom, but in particular, with Audit New Zealand, the Government audit agency. Sarah does therefore bring a wealth of audit experience to build on the valued work that Warren has developed over the 8 years he has been an associate to RayneWright.
